Kolar Government School Teacher Murdered; 8 Suspects Arrested
Kolar: Police have arrested eight suspects in connection with the gruesome murder of a 43-year-old government school teacher in Mulbagal town, Karnataka. The victim, identified as Divyashri, was killed in front of her daughter on the evening of August 14 when intruders broke into their home in the Mutyalapete area.
According to Kolar Superintendent of Police B. Nikhil, the assailants attempted to forcibly take over the victim’s house before resorting to violence. “The accused threatened Divyashri, trying to coerce her into signing over her property. When she refused, they brutally murdered her by slitting her throat,” SP Nikhil stated.
The arrested individuals, all natives of Mulbagal, include the main accused Ranjit, Rahul, and Nandish. The police have not yet disclosed the identities of the other five suspects.
In a terrifying turn of events, the killers also attempted to attack Divyashri’s daughter, who was studying upstairs. The young woman, a BE student at Reva University, managed to lock herself in a room and escape harm. She later alerted her father, Padmanabha, about the tragedy.
Investigators initially suspected a potential contract killing, as no valuables were stolen from the house. However, family members have expressed bewilderment over the motive, stating they know of no reason why anyone would want to harm Divyashri.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the community. Local MLA Samruddhi Manjunath, who visited the crime scene, expressed his horror at the act and urged police to take swift action. He also raised concerns about increasing drug trafficking in Mulbagal, calling for heightened law enforcement measures.
